PCA to host two virtual health self-management workshops, free to those ages 60+

Want to better self-manage your health issues, including diabetes, asthma, heart disease, and high blood pressure? Register for a virtual workshop through PCA! All workshops are FREE for those age 60+! Each program runs for six weeks and meets weekly.

Chronic Disease Self-Management Program – *Zoom based*
Workshop dates:  Tuesdays – March 29, April 5, 12, 19, 26 and May 3
Time: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, participants with chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, asthma, heart disease, and diabetes will learn new ways to take charge of their health and symptoms (including how to address fatigue, pain, sleep, shortness of breath, stress, and emotional difficulties).  Additional topics include: breathing techniques, falls prevention, healthy eating, physical activity, and communication skills.

Diabetes Self-Management Program – *Zoom based*
Workshop dates: Thursdays – March 24, 31 and April 7, 14, 21 & 28
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In the Diabetes Self-Management Program, participants will learn to take charge of their diabetes and associated symptoms including fatigue, pain, low/high blood sugar, stress, and emotional difficulties (depression, anger, fear, and frustration).  Additional topics include:  improving strength and endurance, healthy eating and menu planning, blood sugar and medical management, proper foot care, and communication skills.
