WATCH: Serving Up Nutrition, Community and Care

6abc’s Art of Aging recently highlighted how PCA’s senior nutrition programs nourish both body and spirit for older Philadelphians. The segment showed that these programs are about more than meals — they also offer connection, routine and a sense of community.

At Southwest Senior Center, Brenda Smith shared that she comes to the center twice a week for programming, including exercise class. She said being around others keeps her motivated and described the center as a place where “we’re all one big family.”

The story also featured the center’s congregate meal program, where fresh, balanced meals are served daily. Fellow participant Denise Brice said she often enjoys the cold meal options and added simply, “The food is very good.”

For older adults who cannot visit a senior center, the segment also spotlighted PCA’s home-delivered meal program. Lauren Jirinec, PCA’s assistant director of health and nutrition services, explained that PCA serves 3,500 consumers each week through its Meal Distribution Center, offering nutritious meal options that support health, independence and quality of life as people age.
