This just in: PCA will honor Dr. Ala Stanford at its ‘7 Wonders of the World’ Fall Fundraiser, September 12

John Deangelis

PCA is happy to announce that it will recognize Dr. Ala Stanford, founder of the Black Doctors Consortium, for outstanding service to older adults and people with disabilities in Philadelphia at its fall fundraiser on September 12, which benefits the Rodney D. Williams Philadelphia Fund for Seniors.

Dr. Stanford has received international recognition for her tireless grassroots efforts during the pandemic, resulting in her being an integral factor in Philadelphia having the highest COVID-19 vaccination rate among African Americans in any large urban area in the United States.

Named “A Top 10 CNN Hero” in 2022, she is the founder of the Ala Stanford Center for Health Equity (ASCHE), building trust among residents of the North Philadelphia community where she was raised. ASCHE provides physical and mental health care, wellness checks, and crucial health screenings, in a neighborhood with one of the lowest life expectancies in the city.

Dr. Stanford has recently been named a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, where she will educate undergraduates in health equity issues. Her new book, “Take Care of Them Like My Own” is a moving and compelling account of health inequity and racial injustice in American society.

PCA is thrilled that Dr. Stanford will be joining us as our honored guest! Please come meet her in person at this once-in-a-lifetime event! Click the button below to learn all about the “Seven Wonders of the World” Fall Fundraiser.
