Southwest Senior Center Marks 36 Years with Elegant Black-Tie Celebration
Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s Southwest Senior Center celebrated 36 years of service to older adults with an elegant Black Tie Affair on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at the Hilton City Ave. The afternoon event brought together older adults, community partners, and supporters for an upscale program of live music, dancing, and fellowship.
Guests were treated to a candlelight jazz concert featuring The Elite Ensemble with vocalist Sherry Butler, whose performance set the tone for a sophisticated and joyful celebration. Radio and television personality Mimi Brown served as guest MC, guiding the program and engaging attendees throughout the evening.
The celebration highlighted the vital role Southwest Senior Center plays in the lives of hundreds of older Philadelphians each year. Operated in partnership with PCA, the center helps combat social isolation, provides nutritious meals, and offers a range of health and wellness activities that support older adults in aging with dignity and independence.
Throughout the event, staff, participants, and community leaders reflected on the center’s 36-year legacy as a neighborhood anchor—one that offers not only programs and services, but also a welcoming space where older adults can connect, express themselves, and feel valued. The Black Tie Affair honored that legacy while looking ahead to the continued growth and impact of Southwest Senior Center in the years to come.
