Bill Conallen

Philadelphia Corporation for Aging hosted its Social Work Training: Protecting Older Adults: Domestic Violence Awareness & Response Training today at PCA’s second-floor auditorium on North Broad Street. The event brought together social work professionals, community partners and advocates for an important conversation about recognizing and responding to domestic violence affecting older adults.

Presentations were delivered by Lutheran Settlement House and the Office of Domestic Violence Strategies, offering attendees valuable insight into the warning signs of abuse, appropriate response strategies and the unique challenges older adults may face when experiencing violence. The training also featured community resources and exhibitors, giving participants an opportunity to learn more about services and supports available throughout Philadelphia.

The event underscored PCA’s ongoing commitment to protecting the safety, dignity and well-being of older Philadelphians. By equipping professionals with practical information and strengthening connections among service providers, the training helped reinforce a coordinated community response to domestic violence involving older adults.
