PCA’s 13th Annual Senior Strut Celebrates Health, Wellness and Community
Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA), in partnership with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, hosted its 13th annual Senior Strut: A Health Event in the Park on Friday, Oct. 18, along Boathouse Row. The event, which drew more than 550 older adults, was recently featured on 6abc’s “Art of Aging” segment highlighting PCA’s work to promote wellness and connection among Philadelphia’s seniors.
The Senior Strut encourages older adults to stay active, socialize and access important health information. This year’s theme, “Step Into Wellness,” inspired participants to enjoy a morning filled with fitness and fun — including a half-mile walk along Kelly Drive, line dancing, health screenings and giveaways from local wellness vendors.
“Senior Strut is a day of health and wellness,” said Dr. Najja R. Orr, PCA’s president and CEO. “It’s also a celebration of camaraderie and community. We’re partying for a purpose.”
Participants gathered at Lloyd Hall for a lively warm-up before hitting the walking trail, joined by representatives from neighborhood senior centers and community organizations. Many attendees walked in groups, and one participant even completed the course with her Bulldog companion.
The event also featured health education, music, and complimentary lunches provided by Cosmic Café. PCA’s public relations manager Bill Conallen noted that Senior Strut helps “keep older adults active while connecting them with valuable health-care resources.”
The 2025 Senior Strut was sponsored by Pennsylvania Health & Wellness and Always Best Care Senior Services.
