PCA Partners with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation for Senior Fun Day at FDR Park
Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) was featured in a recent 6abc Art of Aging segment highlighting Senior Fun Day, an annual event hosted by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Older Adult Services.
Held at FDR Park in South Philadelphia, the free event brought together adults age 55 and older from senior centers across the city for a day of activity, connection and fun. PCA and ArchWell Health co-sponsored the event alongside Philadelphia Parks & Recreation.
Attendees enjoyed line dancing, Zumba, tai chi, arts and crafts, food and opportunities to reconnect with friends and meet new people. The event also included a health fair, where organizations shared information and resources available to older adults throughout Philadelphia.
In the 6abc segment, PCA Program Manager Constance Lewis-Watson spoke about PCA’s mission to help older adults and people with disabilities live safely, independently and productively in the community while enjoying a good quality of life.
“Older people can still have a life and party,” Lewis-Watson said, reflecting the energy and spirit of the day.
Philadelphia’s 28 senior centers offer year-round programs, activities and opportunities for social connection. Older adults interested in getting involved can visit PCA’s website to find a senior center near them.
