PCA Launches Community Cafe Pilot to Support Older Adults

Bill Conallen

Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) has launched the PCA Community Cafe, a new pilot program designed to help older adults access nutritious meals while fostering social connection. The program is funded through a grant from the Sarah Ralston Foundation.

The PCA Community Cafe allows eligible adults ages 60 and older who live in 19135 and surrounding zip codes to enjoy meals at participating neighborhood restaurants, with the cost covered by PCA. The program is intended to reach older adults who may have limited access to senior centers and who may be experiencing food insecurity or social isolation.

Participants can dine in at approved restaurants and redeem up to 10 meals per month using a PCA-issued card. PCA staff will support participants throughout the process and gather feedback to help improve and expand the program.

Eligible zip codes include 19135, 19137, 19124, 19149, 19136, and 19152.

Community members are encouraged to refer older adults who may benefit from the program or reach out to learn more.

Restaurants in the eligible zip codes that offer dine-in service and are interested in partnering with PCA to provide nutritious meals and meaningful social connection for older adults are encouraged to contact me to learn more.
