Fighting fraud: How scammers are stealing from older adults

Recently, the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging Committee held a hearing, Fighting Fraud: How Scammers are Stealing from Older Adults, to focus on the psychological and economic impact that fraud and scams have on older adults, and examine how law enforcement investigates these crimes.

At the hearing, Senator Bob Casey, chairperson of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, released the 2024 Fraud Book, which highlights some of the most prevalent scams targeting older adults. The book includes information on red flags to watch for, and tips to prevent and respond to scams. The Fraud Book and the committee’s other consumer materials can be ordered for free at the link below.

It is essential that everyone report potential fraud or scams, so we are better equipped to stop these criminals.
