Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s 24th annual Celebrate Arts & Aging exhibition was recently featured on 6abc’s Art of Aging segment, spotlighting the creativity, talent and inspiration of older artists throughout Philadelphia.

The segment showcased artwork on display at West Philadelphia Senior Community Center, one of three locations hosting this year’s exhibition. PCA’s Celebrate Arts & Aging program features a wide range of artistic styles and mediums, including paintings, photography, textiles, pencil and ink drawings, and mixed-media pieces.

Michael Drzik, special events manager at PCA, shared that this year’s exhibition includes 140 participating artists, ranging in age from 56 to 101. He also noted that one of the goals of Celebrate Arts & Aging is to encourage older adults to remain creative throughout their lives.

Several featured artists discussed the meaning behind their work, including pieces inspired by nature, personal expression and the joy of creating. The segment also highlighted the excitement of participants and visitors, reinforcing the powerful role that art can play in promoting connection, purpose and lifelong creativity.

In addition to West Philadelphia Senior Community Center, Celebrate Arts & Aging exhibits are also on display at South Philadelphia Older Adult Center and Center on the Hill in Germantown. The exhibits will remain open throughout May, and PCA’s virtual Celebrate Arts & Aging show will be available year-round at PCACares.org.

Celebrate Arts & Aging is free to visit and reflects PCA’s mission to improve the quality of life for older Philadelphians by celebrating their voices, talents and contributions to the community.
