Golden Voices Returns for Its 3rd Year of Song and Celebration

Janai Johnson

On Wednesday, December 3, the 3rd Annual Golden Voices Festival brought music, joy and connection to the KleinLife Northeast Center. Choirs from senior centers across Philadelphia filled the auditorium, which was also packed with family, friends, and community members, with songs and celebrations of older adults. Nine choirs performed this year, including two new groups joining for the first time. Each choir shared two selections, ranging from “Que Sera Sera” and “Jasmine Flower” to “Klezmerim,” “He Reigns Forever,” and “Winter Wonderland” all telling stories of life, memory, joy and community through their performances.

Participating centers included KleinLife Russian Choir, Philadelphia Senior Center – Avenue of the Arts, Southwest Senior Center, Star Harbor Senior Citizen Center, Philadelphia Senior Center – Coffee Cup, St. Edmond Senior Community Center, On Lok Senior Services Center, Northern Living Center, and Lutheran Settlement House Senior Center.

Each group brought its own energy and style to the stage. The Golden Voices Festival continues to grow each year, showing how music programs at senior centers strengthen emotional health, reduce isolation, and bring people together across neighborhoods. PCA remains committed to supporting programs like these that celebrate creativity, promote wellness, and build community!
