    Why Visit a Senior Center?

    Dining

Any Philadelphia resident 60 or over can enjoy a lunchtime meal at a PCA-funded senior center. All meals are designed to meet the recommendations from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and meet one-third of the Recommended Dietary Allowance for older adults. Meals can be included in a meal plan for those who have medical conditions like diabetes or heart disease, and kosher meals are available at specific centers. Donations are requested but not required.

    Recreation

Many centers offer organized and informal recreational activities, including billiards, card and strategy games, special events and more. In addition, senior centers regularly organize trips to shopping centers, casinos, shows and other local and regional attractions.

    Health Promotion

Senior centers are an excellent place to stay fit. Many centers offer exercise equipment for individual workouts as well as group classes that are catered to all fitness levels. In addition, centers regularly host evidence-based health and wellness workshops to promote chronic disease self-management, balance and strength.

    Education

Senior centers offer plenty of opportunities for lifelong learning. Seniors can visit a center to learn a new skill, rekindle interest in a hobby or discuss topics of interest with their peers. From art and language classes to book and discussion clubs, there is something for everyone.
